Installation

Root credential

Keep secrets out of publicly served boot files.

Export mode

Secret-free templates are not unattended-install ready. Add a root credential through a protected delivery process. This page does not provide the appliance’s one-time HTTPS handoff.

First boot

Opt in to the appliance’s host customization commands.

Commands are carried over from the appliance. Check support on your exact ESXi release; first-boot scripts may not run with Secure Boot enabled. The script schedules a reboot and leaves the host in maintenance mode.
