Welcome

Thank you for checking out my site, I have a passion for virtualization and cloud computing that has spanned a career over 15 years now in some form or fashion. This blog is to help show how I build my lab as I have recently undergone a reduction in the amount of systems I have and with the new version of VMware Cloud Foundation out now it seemed like the perfect time to start over and document my journey in some way.

I have been with VMware for 6 years, starting out in the Professional Services division and most recently transitioning to the VMware Cloud Foundation division as a Technical Account Manager. I have found that having a homelab is essential in being able to better serve my customers on a daily basis and hopefully along the way some others will find this information useful as well.

My plan is to break this rebuild up into sections and provide a walkthrough on each step so that it will be easily to repeat this process if you wanted to build a lab yourself. Rough plan is:

1. Identify Hardware
2. Rackmount equipment/cabling
3. Define IP Subnetting
4. Build infrastructure
5. Deploy VCF Physical environment
6. Configure nested virtual switches
7. Deploy/configure VyOS router
8. Configure Powershell scripts for nested environments
9. Test Powershell script deployments
10. Build nested VCF/VVF environments
